Rehabilitation Plan addicted to liquor


Walking through the streets and crannies of the Free Fair, the first thing you find is men and women sleeping on the floor because alcoholism has led them to lose their homes and be forgotten by their relatives.


The plight of these human beings, especially women who are likely to become victims of abuse and other dangers, led the directors of the Therapeutic Community Women of Valor, in conjunction with the Life municipal project and the Citizens Guard, to take a program to free them from the clutches of alcohol.
Santiago Mejia, inspector of the Citizens Guard, said that the work of the Municipal Police is to identify women suffering from alcoholism and determine the places they frequent, then inform social workers to address them and encourage them to integrate a rehabilitation plans.

Mejia said they have identified 12 alcoholic women whose shelter the Free Fair and close to the largest supply center that the city green spaces. He said that thanks to joint work professionals such institutions is achieving positive results with close relatives, considering that for the process of internment must have the consent of the family.

 Rehabilitation

Marcelo Campuzano, psychologist therapeutic community Women of Valor reported that three women are in rehabilitation, while others still hesitate because of the plight. He said that the professionals who are working on the issue have extensive experience in matters of addictions, which gives hope that they abstain from vices and have a decent life.
It was known that the rehabilitation plan provides for detention for six months, at no cost to the patient or family, because the agreements signed with the Municipality.

The local police said that alcoholism is one of the biggest problems affecting the Free Fair, because the drunken star street fights that many times end up with injuries at other times for lack of money rob citizens who come to the place.
Besides the large number of alcoholics, it makes owners of restaurants, juice stands and food stalls, see the sale of liquor as a lucrative activity outside the law. (ASQ) (I)
