Change ends asphalt runway

Yesterday morning ended placing new asphalt on the runway of the airport Mariscal Lamar. The change occurred in the 1,900 meters long and 15 wide, as described in the contract that the Municipality of Cuenca signed with the company Hidalgo & Hidalgo.

Once this process will continue next week with a drying step of the track itself which is expected to take about seven days. The next step is to place the horizontal signage in the renovated track.
According Santiago Lopez, coordinator of municipal companies, as the track dried completely will be used to perform quality control of the asphalt mix.
The results will be sent to the authorities of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to verify whether or not they meet the required quality standards and to allow lifting the restriction imposed months ago in which flights are prevented when the track was wet by a apparent lack of friction on the track.
The works began on August 20 and is expected culminate on September 19. (JGJ) (I)
