Control agencies and relief activated an operational plan to safeguard the physical integrity of citizens who mobilized to mark the holiday by August 10 and the pilgrimage to the Virgin of the Swan.
The so-called contingency plan prepared by the Provincial Security Council, provides for the mobilization of 3,189 people between members of the Fire Department, Red Cross, Ministry of Public Health, IESS, Police, Armed Forces Transit Commission of Ecuador, National Secretariat Risk management and other entities that are linked to the Integrated Security Service ECU-911.
Juan Cristobal Lloret, governor of Azuay, called the holiday special because it coincides the holiday for the civic holiday, pilgrimages to the Virgin of El Cisne and travel of citizens who are in holiday period, therefore, the number of lifeguards and staff control entities vary as the number of travelers increases.

Lloret explained that the holiday on August 10 will be active 2,562 people from different institutions, supported by 388 vehicles and 2,809 operating materials relief agencies and entities surveillance and monitoring.
The official said that the pilgrimages to the Swan the number of people increased to 3,189, to support devotees traveling on foot, on bicycles and motor vehicles. For this fixed positions vehicular control and medical brigades in Cumbe, La Paz and Ona will be installed.
